UFC Fight Pass Features

Before I give my own analysis, let’s begin with what you will be getting if you join the UFC fight pass subscription.

Live Events: Pay per View and other Leagues

Live Events: Pay per View and other Leagues
Watch your favourite fighters in Combat

The UFC fight pass gives you all-access to PPV (pay per view) live events and fights. This is a plus because you’ll get exclusive coverage of almost every live UFC fight on Pay per View.

Most streaming services and sites are not able to provide this type of coverage. Basically, you can stream live UFC events anytime, anywhere.

Besides pay per view, you also get access to other live events from over 20 fighting organizations such as TKO, Invicta FC, Pancrase, etc. Indeed, you get the whole package when it comes to enhancing the ultimate fighter experience.

It is as if you are in the actual venue where all these UFC events take place.

Fight Pass has hours of content

Do you want to relieve Ronda Rousey’s greatest hits all over again?

Are you an Anderson Silva fanboy who wants to watch some of his epic finishes all over again?

Are you badly in need of a good laugh from Conor McGregor’s roasts, taunts, and insults?

The UFC Fight Pass has all these and then some. With the fight library feature, you basically have access to all these fights and UFC events at your fingertips.

You can browse through hundreds and even thousands of videos dating back to 1993 straight from the fight library archives.

With so much content in this fight library, it may be difficult to navigate the videos at first.

Thankfully, the fight library allows you to browse the videos by organization, fighter name, year, fight type, length of the fight, and weight class.

UFC Fight Pass Exclusives

Besides this being a service exclusively for UFC events, the UFC Fight Pass also caters to those who want a little inside scoop of the fighters and their respective lives outside the Octagon. Here are some examples of these exclusive shows:

Are you wondering where some of your favorite MMA stars have gone after retirement?

This series gives viewers what former UFC superstars have been up to after their final matches at the Octagon.

Dana White Contender Series

The Contender series

This show gives an opportunity for young, up and coming UFC aspirants to showcase their combat sports’ skills on the big stage.

These dreamers get a chance to duke it out with their respective competitors for a chance to get a UFC contract.

Just think of this series’ as the UFC version of both the NBA Draft Combine and NFL Scouting Combine.

The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Fighter TUF

TUF is an American reality television series that features some of the best UFC fighters go at it in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Unlike the Dana White Contender Series, which only features new applicants and amateurs, we are talking about seasoned veterans and professional combat sports athletes going at it night in and night out.

The stakes are a whole lot higher because each fight brings you one step closer to elimination, or a six-figure contract.

MMA Movies

Besides receiving the full UFC experience in terms of live events and fights, the fight pass also gives you access to some action-packed kung-fu, karate, or any combat sports movies on the side.

KUNG FU CHEFS, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, and Clan of the White Lotus are just some of the many fight films in its cache you can watch during your own free time.

I surely enjoy this feature because of all the Jet Li fights and content that is at my full disposal.

Which platforms are compatible with Fight Pass?

I’m sure you’re wondering, “Where can I stream UFC events?”

One of the many perks of the UFC fight pass is you can stream and access it anytime, anywhere, and on any device.

Here is a list of apps and platforms where you can check out the UFC fight pass:

  1. Android devices (Samsung, Sony, etc.)
  2. iOS products (iPhone and iPad)
  3. Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire Stick
  4. Apple TV, Smart TV, etc.
  5. Xbox One, Roku and Chromecast

As someone who owns an Amazon Fire TV stick, this is a very beneficial feature for me. This fight pass also goes to show the continuous transition from cable to streaming.

Unfortunately, not everyone’s internet connection is reliable. Therefore, problems such as lagging and latency may occur while a fight is ongoing.

This is certainly one of the fight pass’ drawbacks especially when trying to keep track of these live events and fights in real-time.

Interface and Video Player

Unfortunately, the fight pass’ interface does not sit well among many UFC fans. Objectively speaking, the interface is one of its weaknesses.

Although the UFC fight pass underwent a major redesign back in late-2019, if anything, it just made the app’s interface digress in terms of quality.

For starters, some of the fights, live events, and reality TV shows are much harder to find nowadays. An unwritten rule of streaming services is to give consumers an easier time looking for such programs.

Therefore, I can honestly say that this is one of the fight pass’ flaws.

Additionally, the video player is not very user-friendly as compared to older versions of the fight pass. It does not help that the streaming is usually buffering or very slow due to latency issues and WiFi connectivity, or lack thereof.

Sure, you get real-time statistics of each UFC fight, but rewinding and fast-forwarding usually result in the video crashing. These are just some of the many things you may need to consider before buying the fight pass.

Speaking of buying the UFC fight pass, these are some of the subscription plans for your consideration (see photo above).

Thankfully you are given a free trial for one week to see whether or not this app is for you.

Honestly, given all the fights, events, and content at your full disposal, these are pretty solid deals and prices. Had it not been for the two drawbacks mentioned above, acquiring a UFC fight pass would be a no-brainer.

Testimonials and Takeaways

As a casual follower of this particular combat sports league, I personally don’t think it is worth buying the UFC fight pass in its entirety.

There are so many alternatives to the UFC fight pass. Living in the US? There’s the ESPN plus app, which gives you access to UFC PPV and other sporting events such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.

Living outside the US? We have our good friend Reddit to help us look for free streaming services of live events and fights. Here is what other users have to say about the fight pass:

Our Verdict

If you religiously follow the UFC, its fights, and the content in between, then, by all means, go buy the UFC fight pass.

From UFC events live on PPV, the entire fight library, to all the extra content it offers, the fight pass is the app for you.

However, if you just want to tune in to the fights and not really dive deep into the extra content, then the fight pass may not be for you. You can always check out the other services I suggested earlier.

Or you can simply catch the replays of the events posted regularly on Youtube. I still believe the UFC fight pass has so much potential to be better.

As MMA fanatics and sports lovers, we can only hope the necessary adjustments will be made in order to complete our UFC fan experience.
