What is Hulu?
Hulu is a leading streaming service in America with over 30 million customers and a content library of 80,000+ TV episodes and movies. It allows you to stream different channels on two screens at a time and create up to six profiles for everyone in your household.
Hulu allows on-demand access to an extensive library of thousands of TV shows and movies. They have a range of features from the classics to more recent films. They also have many Hulu Originals, including dramas, comedies, documentaries, and child-friendly options.
It also features next-day access to new episodes for your TV series. This means you get to watch your shows the night before they get broadcasted on networks like NBC, ABC, and Fox. That’s something rival streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video don’t offer.
How long is the Hulu free trial?
Hulu has one of the longest free trial periods in the industry. There is a 30-day free trial for the Hulu Ads and Hulu No Ads plans upon signing up for a Hulu account. This allows you to test the waters and see if your desired TV shows are available.
How long is the hulu plus live TV free trial?
There is a seven day free trial for the Hulu + Live TV plan. After that, they’ll start charging $54.99 a month. For an extensive set of shows to watch, this is definitely worth it.
If you’re already a Hulu + Live TV subscriber and find that the default 50 hours of DVR storage isn’t enough for your account, Hulu’s 200-hour upgrade ($9.99 a month) comes with a one-month free trial.
If you have a large household, you can also try out their unlimited screens addition ($9.99 a month) with a 30-day free trial before making any commitments.
Free trials on add-ons
There are four Premium Add-ons for Hulu subscribers to choose from: HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz. All these begin with seven day free trials. I suggest you try one per week and see which add-ons you’d like to add to your regular subscriptions.
One of my top recommendations would be the HBO add-on. It has a vast collection of new releases, full seasons of original HBO series, and HBO movie hits.
Sadly, the only package that Hulu does not currently offer a free trial for is its bundled plan with Disney Plus and ESPN+.

If you don’t cancel your subscription before your free trial ends, Hulu will automatically charge you the necessary subscription fees.
If you wish to avail of another free trial of the same account, it might take a while. We’ve read reviews on some viewers being able to do this after 6 months or so. Hulu often changes their subscription requirements.
You could also get a new Hulu free trial by creating a new account, and using other credit or debit cards from your family or friends.

Q: When will I see ads while watching Hulu
A: If you subscribe to one of our ad-supported plans, you will see ads during shows and movies in our streaming library. Ads are typically shown at the beginning of the stream and throughout the video — similar to what you’d expect from a traditional TV broadcast.
Content from Premium Add-ons like HBO, Cinemax, SHOWTIME and STARZ will play uninterrupted, but there may be a brief promotional ad before the program begins. Certain content available through the ESPN+ Add-on may include ads.
If you subscribe to one of our Live TV plans you can also expect to see ads while watching:
- A live stream from one of the 60+ available networks
- Recordings from your Cloud DVR
- Additional on-demand content provided by our network partners*
*These videos are not included in the Hulu streaming library and are only available for Live TV subscribers, which means they will have ads.
